Style
To write just one antecedentless “that”
Can produce syntactic absurdity
That sprawls out across the page like a cat
In a fog of feline obscurity
Defining clauses set off by commas
Mislead the meanings to mean what they don’t
Making the text have textual traumas
That should really do it in, but they don’t
But then they do if the writer is you
Who think you have something to say
But some somebody without a clue
Can churn out such obscurity for pay
The rules of style mere mortals constrain
To the writing of elites they just don’t pertain
Oh my. I don’t expect we’ll be seeing you at a public poetry reading anytime soon!
